Quick Overview

Risto no longer wholesales these shoes to resellers. By clicking the Add to Cart button you will be taken directly to the manufacturer's website where you can order the shoes directly from Risto.

Engineered and designed by actual weightlifting coaches and competitors, Risto Sports Olympic lifting shoes are guaranteed to help you lift big. All Risto shoes are hand made of high quality leather by artisans in Colombia, a USA ally. These shoes have a lower carbon footprint as they are made of all local materials. The heel is made of a solid wood platform and is finished with a rubber sole for an excellent grip. Unlike other shoes with a fixed heel height, the heel on a Risto shoe is proportional to the size of the shoe with a size 9 mens shoe having roughly a 1" heel. The toe box is made of molded leather, featuring a work boot like fit in the toe area and run wider than average athletic shoes.

New For 2011: The Risto Series 2 Shoe in White Thunder. These shoes are of the same handmade quality and feel as the previous model of Ristos but come with an updated design and a more comfortable overall fit. These are THE MOST comfortable weightlifting shoes on the market with laces that extend down the arch of the foot allowing adjustments for width down the entire foot. As with all Ristos, these shoes are made of high quality leather and a solid wood block heel that is proportional to the size of the shoe. A size 40 Risto shoe will have an "actual heel height" of around 1"; respectively smaller sizes will have a lower heel and larger size a higher heel; this makes the shoes anatomically accurate regardless of the height of the wearer. These shoe feel more like wearing a light work boot and run slightly wider than an average athletic shoe.

How to Select Your Size Using the Risto Sizing Chart

RISTOS SHOES ARE NOT MEASURED IN EUROPEAN SIZES!

FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY TO ENSURE A PROPER FIT

Measure your bare foot from heel to toe by placing your foot against a wall and measuring from the wall to the end of your LONGEST TOE. DO NOT trace your foot and measure the tracing as this does not take into account the length of your heel bone. Add 1 centimeter OR a ½ inch to your measurement. Look for the closest number to this in the "Interior Shoe Length" columns of the Sizing Chart. Scroll across to the left to see what the Risto Size is at that measurement. (If you fall between two sizes it is usually best to round up and select the larger size.)

In other words, you want to order a shoe that is a centimeter or half inch longer than your bare foot measurement.

Stuck Between Two Sizes? - If your measurement happens to fall between two sizes it is best to round up to the next size. It is much easier to wear a thicker pair of socks than it is to amputate toes!

Example: Your foot measures 10 inches from heel to toe. You would add a half inch to that measurement and find the closest size using the sizing chart. We find that 10.55 inches is the closest interior length, which equals a size 40 Risto.

A good weightlifting shoe Review by Raymond All My Reviews  (1)

These shoes have worked well for me. The heel height is appropriate for the relative size of my foot. The only complaint I have concerns the laces. They seem to be fraying rather quickly, especially as they often get stuck to the adjacent velcro. However, the laces are obviously replacable. Overall, the quality/construction of the shoe seems solid. (Posted on 1/31/11)

Certainly Handmade Review by Will

The Risto shoes are solid shoes. They have all of the care and the quirks of being handmade. With mine, the leather used to secure the metatarsal strap loop to the shoe was different length on the two sides. With the high volume of the shoe, this lead to the strap hitting the ground on one foot and fitting pretty well on the other.

The soles are solid, the grip is good, the leather is thick and strong. (Posted on 1/25/11)

Happy with the shoes Review by Scot

I had been lifting in a pair of pendlay shoes previously and just could not get on board with the colors plus the uneven heels were annoying as well. So after a bit of research I decided on the Ristos. Gotta say I really do love them for the most part. I found the toe box to be a bit snug but it has started to loosen up as I wear them. Quality seems to be top notch as long as you don't mind a few irregularities that are bound to happen with handmade items. Lifting in them has been a pleasure and its nice to get some good remarks on my oly shoes for a change. (Posted on 1/22/11)

Best lifting shoes I've ever worn in over 30 years in the iron game!

Rock-solid stability, superlative quality throughout, excellent and very adjustable fit. Though I've only owned 'em for a short time it's pretty evident they'll last a lifetime--the quality is that good in every respect.

Yeah, these are expensive--but most definitely worth it. Once you buy 'em, it's a cinch you won't be spending any more money on lifting shoes for a long, long time. (Posted on 12/4/10)

I had previously purchased both a pair of Adidas shoes and returned them for a pair of rogues. I wasn't totally happy with those either so I purchased these and love them... needless to say the Rogues were shipped back as well. (Posted on 8/8/10)

Questions for 2011 Risto Series 2 Shoe - White Thunder

  • From Pierre St-Jean at 10/22/10 9:56 AM
    • what is the heel height differential between the toe and the heel on a woman 4 1/2 size risto sport series 2 shoe?

EDIT: Looking at a size 35
    • Since Risto shoe sizes do not directly correlate to any standard sizing, you will need to measure your foot per the instructions and determine what your Risto Size is first. Then I can let you what the effective heel height would be for that size.

EDIT: The effective heel height would be 0.8 inches. Remember, effective heel height is the amount your heel is actually raised and is calculated by taking total heel height and subtracting from it the heel thickness at the toe.

    • When will you be getting more of the White Thunder Weightlifting Shoes? My fiance is a hardcore crossfitter and this shoe is the only thing he wants for Christmas. Can't find it anywhere!

      Thanks!!!
    • Unfortunately the shoe will not be available in time for the Holidays. We completely sold out of all the Risto shoes about 2 weeks after they were launched; they have proven to be a very popular item. Risto expects a new shipment to come in late December/early January. With that said, we will have several pair of the Series 2 returned due to incorrect sizes being ordered, but I'm not sure if we will have a size that you need and it will almost certainly not be in time for Christmas. You can signup to be notified when the shoes are placed back in stock using the link at the top of the product page, to the right of the product photo.
