All Risto shoes are hand made of high quality leather by artisans in Colombia, a USA ally. These shoes have a lower carbon footprint as they are made of all local materials. The heel is made of a solid wood platform and is finished with rubber for an excellent grip. Unlike other shoes with a fixed heel height, the heel on a Risto shoe is proportional to the size of the shoe with a size 40 shoe having roughly a 1" heel. This makes the shoes much more anatomically correct. The toe box is made of molded leather, featuring a work boot like fit in the toe area and run slightly wider than average athletic shoes.
How to Select Your Size Using the Risto Sizing Chart
Measure your bare foot from heel to toe. The easiest way to do this is place your foot against a wall and measure from the wall to the end of your big toe. Add 1 centimeter OR a ½ inch to your measured heel to toe foot length. Look for the closest number to this in the "Interior Shoe Length" columns of the Sizing Chart. Scroll across to the left to see what the Risto Size is at that measurement. (If you fall between two sizes it is usually best to round up and select the larger size.)
In other words, you want to order a shoe that is a centimeter or half inch longer than your bare foot.
Example: Your foot measures 10 inches from heel to toe. You would add a half inch to that measurement and find the closest size using the sizing chart. We find that 10.55 inches is the closest interior length, which equals a size 40 Risto.
