Weightlifting Shoes
A good pair of weightlifting shoes is one of the most critical pieces of weight training equipment any athlete can have, yet so many people overlook the enormous effect they can have on your lifts. Any lift in which your feet are pressing on the ground can benefit from these shoes.
Weightlifting shoes work by three different methods:
STABILITY: These shoes are perfectly flat so your feet and ankle have zero "roll" when holding heavy weight.
COMPRESSION: The shoes are all made of a solid heel material that does not compress allowing all your power to be pushed up through your legs and delivered into your lift.
ANKLE FLEXIBILITY / KNEE ANGLE: When performing proper squats, your ankles may not be flexible enough to allow a full range of motion creating improper knee angles and could lead to an injury. Weightlifting shoes have a raised heel to assist with ankle flexibility allowing a deeper decent under the bar with proper knee angle.
Think about this. When you are performing squats, leg presses, standing military press, bent over rows, etc., how much power and stability are you losing by standing in a pair of sneakers? A LOT!
